Reference Management

PME Journal strongly encourages authors to use reference management software to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of citations and references. The use of reference management tools also facilitates manuscript preparation in accordance with the journal’s citation style and international publishing standards.

Authors may use widely recognized reference management applications, including:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

  • RefWorks

  • Citavi

The use of citation plug-ins integrated with word processors is highly recommended to automate citation and bibliography formatting.

All manuscripts submitted to PME Journal must follow the reference and citation style specified in the journal template and Author Guidelines. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all in-text citations are fully matched with entries in the reference list.

References should meet the following standards:

  • References must be relevant, recent, and scholarly.

  • Authors are encouraged to prioritize references from peer-reviewed international journals.

  • References published within the last 5–10 years are strongly recommended, except for seminal or foundational works.

  • Each reference should include a DOI, permanent link, or URL whenever available.

  • References should be prepared consistently using the journal’s required citation format.

  • Excessive use of non-scientific sources such as blogs, unpublished materials, or non-academic websites should be avoided.

PME Journal recommends authors use high-quality scholarly databases and indexing platforms when selecting references, such as Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, Crossref, and Google Scholar.

If a dedicated citation style template for PME Journal is not yet available in the selected reference management software, authors should follow the citation examples and formatting instructions provided in the journal template and Author Guidelines.
