Abstract
This study aims to describe the motivation to learn mathematics of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Cihurip, Garut Regency, using Kahoot learning media. The research method uses a qualitative research method. The design used is a qualitative descriptive design. The research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Considerations for selecting research subjects were based on considerations of the research objectives, namely students who have good communication skills in expressing opinions, to make it easier for researchers to obtain information. Based on these considerations, three class VIII students of SMPN 2 Cihurip were selected to be interviewed. Data collection techniques used learning motivation questionnaires, observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques were in the form of descriptive analysis, referring to data analysis according to Miles and Huberman. Based on the results of the research and data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of Kahoot learning media can increase learning motivation, which is characterized by the presence of desire and desire to succeed, the presence of encouragement and needs in learning, the presence of hopes and ideals for the future, the presence of awards in learning, the presence of activities in attracting learning, and the presence of a conducive learning situation, so that students can learn well.
Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Cihurip Kabupaten Garut menggunakan media pembelajaran Kahoot. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Desain yang digunakan berupa desain deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pertimbangan pemilihan subjek penelitian berdasarkan pertimbangan tujuan penelitian yaitu siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi yang baik dalam menyampaikan pendapat, untuk mempermudah peneliti memperoleh informasi. Berdasarkan pertimbangan tersebut terpilih siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Cihurip sebanyak tiga orang untuk diwawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket motivasi belajar, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data berupa analisis deskriptif yang mengacu pada analisis data menurut Miles dan Huberman. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran Kahoot dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar yaitu ditandai dengan adanya hasrat dan keinginan berhasil, adanya dorongan dan kebutuhan dalam belajar, adanya harapan dan cita-cita masa depan, adanya penghargaan dalam belajar, adanya kegiatan yang menarik dalam belajar, dan adanya situasi belajar yang kondusif, sehingga memungkinkan peserta didik dapat belajar dengan baik.
