Abstract

Mathematics is a lesson that is no less interesting and important to understand for the nation's generation, especially for the students who will become the nation's successors. In addition, mathematics is also one of the lessons that requires understanding of concepts in order to master the material taught and solve a problem. Self-efficacy or belief in oneself is also one of the important points that students need to master in solving mathematical problems. This study aims to describe the understanding of mathematics concepts of grade XI MA Al-Khoirot students based on the students' self efficacy. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, the instruments used are matrix problem tests, interviews and questionnaires to assess students' self efficacy. The results obtained data that students with high Self Efficacy ability can complete all indicators of concept understanding well according to their abilities. Students with moderate Self Efficacy ability can only complete three indicators of concept understanding well according to their abilities. This happens because students doubt and do not believe in themselves that they can actually solve the problems they are given. Students with low Self Efficacy prefer to give up and walk away from the problems they have, so none of the indicators are met.

Matematika merupakan pelajaran yang tidak kalah menarik dan penting untuk dipahami bagi generasi bangsa, terutama dapa siswa yang mana akan menjadi penerus bangsa. Selain itu, matematika juga salah satu pelajaran yang memerlukan pemahaman konsep dalam mengguasai materi yang diajarkan dan menyelesaikan suatu permasalahan. Self Efficacy atau keyakinan terhadap diri sendiri juga salah satu poin penting yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman konsep matemtika siswa kelas XI MA Al-Khoirot yang ditinjau berdasarkan Self Efficacy siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes soal matriks, wawancara, dan kuesioner untuk menilai Self Efficacy siswa. Hasil penelitian diperoleh data bahwa siswa kemampuan Self Efficacy tinggi dapat menyelesaikan semua indikator pemahaman konsep dengan baik sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Siswa dengan kemampuan Self Efficacy sedang hanya dapat memenuhi tiga indikator pemahaman konsep dengan baik sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Hal ini terjadi karena siswa ragu dan tidak yakin kepada diri sendiri bahwa sebenarnya siswa dapat menyelesaikan soal yang diberikannya. Siswa yang memiliki Self Efficacy rendah lebih memilih untuk menyerah dan pergi dari permasalahan yang dimilikinya, sehingga tidak ada satupun indikator yang terpenuhi.
